Postal Collages & Artist Trading Cards

Postal Collages

Each one of Ed’s postal collage is made from four sets of torn envelopes and each one is anchored by one of his own Artistamps. The centre reveals the envelope’s interior, a detail usually overlooked. Postmarks record the mail’s passage, and across a series of 40–50 works, Ed turns ordinary mail into simple, elegant records of connection and exchange.

Artist Trading Cards

Ed began making Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) in 1999, just as the movement was taking off. ATCs are tiny works of art (the size of a standard trading card) created to be traded, never sold.

After attending BC’s first-ever ATC trading event, hosted by Wendy Toogood, Ed was hooked. Since then, he’s created hundreds of cards, often in themed series, using mixed media and collage. Many of his cards have been traded away, finding homes across Canada and beyond, while his own collection has grown into a vibrant mix of contributions from other artists.

For Ed, ATCs are a playful, democratic practice: art meant to be shared, exchanged, and carried from one set of hands to another.
